Brave Banner Just Fall Short against Kingdom In Munster U21 Football 1/4 Final

Clare have just narrowly failed to cause a huge upset in the Munster U21 Football Championship.

The Banner lost out to Kerry by 1-17 to 2-8 after a battling display in Tralee.

The Kingdom led 0-7 to 0-3 after the opening twenty minutes, with two points from Conor Finucane and one from Aidan Davidson keeping Clare in touch.

The gap was then narrowed to the minimum after Conal O’Hanefin rattled the ball to the Kerry net in the 23rd minute.

The response from the home side was swift, with a Matthew O’Sullivan goal giving them a five point lead with as many minutes left in the half.

The Banner refused to wilt though, and further scores from Finucane & O’Hanefin leaving the Kingdom ahead at the break by 1-8 to 1-5.

Clare’s second goal came inside the opening ten minutes of the second half as Eimhin Courtney breached the rearguard once more to cut the gap to the minimum.

From here, the home side dominated, and outscored the Banner 0-7 to 0-2 in the final 20 minutes to book their passage to the last four.
