Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League couldn’t be any tighter after round two, with each team now boasting one win each.
Clare have suffered a 6 point defeat to Dublin in their clash at Parnell Park this afternoon.
Anthony Dalys Dublin charges produced the expected backlash after last weeks defeat to Galway, and mid way through the first half had gone 1-06 to 0-02 up on the banner men.
The All Ireland champions had it back to a three point game by the 28th minute with points from Colin Ryan, John Conlon and Patrick O'Connor, but by the break the hosts led 1-12 to 0-10.
Clare conceded a second goal in the 9th minute of the second half to allow Dublin a 9 point advantage, and while they created goal scoring opportunities in the latter stages, former all star Gary Maguire denied Davy Fitzgerald’s an opportunity to raise a green flag.
Final score in Parnell park 2-17 to 0-17.
Elsewhere, Kilkenny have beaten Tipperary after an unbelievable game at Nowlan Park this afternoon.
A hatrick a-piece from Colin Fennelly and Seamus Callinan contributed to a 10-goal thriller in Kilkenny, with the home side running out winners by 5-20 to 5-14.
Waterford beat Galway by 22 points to 1-13 at Walsh Park.
In Division 1B, Wexford beat Offaly by 2-19 to 2-13 in New Ross, while Limerick thrashed Antrim by 3-26 to 12 points at the Gaelic Grounds.
