Ballyea Progress to Senior Championship Quarter Finals

Ballyea have booked their place in the semi finals of the Senior Hurling championship after a three point victory over Crusheen in their quarter final clash this evening in Cusack Park.

Tony Kelly hit ten points for his side in their 1-20 to 2-14 win over the 2011 champions, eight of which came from free’s.
 
Other major contributors for the Senior B side were corner forward Francie Reilly with 1-01 and Martin O’Leary with four points from play.
 
Under 21 All Ireland winning captain Paul Flanagan looked to be in trouble for the victors going off with a leg injury with 13 minutes left in the game, but returned to the field of play for the last 7 minutes to see out the three point win for his side.
 
In the immediate aftermath of the game Ballyea management say the 21 year old appears to have suffered a muscle spasm as a result of a strike, and he will be monitored by the physio.
 
For Crusheen Pat Vaughan hit nine points from free’s while Fergus Kennedy was threatening in front of goal with two goals from corner forward.
 
In a repeat of last years quarter final which saw Crusheen victorious, this year its the men from Ballyea progressing to the last four, with the draw for the Semi finals taking place on Monday evening in Clareabbey.
 
The three other quarter finals take place tomorrow with Sixmilebridge and Tubber in action in Clarecastle from 1pm, O’Callaghans Mills and Clonlara meet in Cusack Park at 2:30, while thats followed by the meeting of defending champions Newmarket on Fergus and Inagh/Kilnamona at 4 o’clock.
