The Champions have maintained their perfect defence of the Cannon Hamilton for 2022 after a convincing victory over Broadford in Shannon in their second round group clash.
Scores were aplenty in the opening quarter with Ballyea leading by 0-6 to 0-3 midway through the first half , thanks to scores from Aaron Griffin, Mossy Gavin and four Niall Deasy frees.
Stiofáin McMahon would then reduce the deficit for the east Clare men to two with a well taken score and that would be the closest the sides would get for the remainder of the contest.
Tony Kelly turned on the style with two superb points in addition to a perfectly weighted ball into the small rectangle which was gathered by Aaron Griffin and aptly finished to the corner of the net.
At half time the sides departed at Ballyea 1-11 to Broadford 0-07
To their credit Broadford battled hard to get back into contention on the restart with Niall O’Farrell, Diarmuid Maloney and Stiofáin McMahon leading the fightback and reducing the margin to just three points.
On the forty-five minute mark the score board read Ballyea 1-13 to Broadford’s 0-13 points.
Broadford’s joy however would be short lived as the strong defensive displays from Peter Casey, Paul Flannagan , Gearóid and Brandon O’Connell kept their opponents scoreless for the remainder of the encounter.
Tony Kelly and Niall Deasy would share the final nine scores of the day as Ballyea ran out convincing winners on a full time score line of 1-22 to 0-13.
