Management with the Antrim Under-21 hurlers, who are preparing to take on Clare in Saturday’s All Ireland Final, say the controversy surrounding its venue will have no bearing on the game itself.
The Saffrons were critical of the GAA for opting to stage the match at Semple Stadium, and even threatened a boycott at one point as they wanted it moved to a venue in Ulster.
However, their calls were unsuccessful, and it’s now expected that a relatively small crowd of their supporters will travel to Thurles, even though it’s Antrim’s first ever appearance in an All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Final.
However, selector Neil McManus has told Clare FM that the team itself won’t allow the controversy distract them
