3 Clare Golfers in Action at Royal Belfast

Three Clare players are due to take part in the Irish Senior Women’s Open Strokeplay Championship, which begins at Royal Belfast Golf Club today.

Valerie Hassett of Ennis will be joined by Lahinch duo Pamela Morgan and Valerie Shannon in the field of 64, which includes a large international contingent from 8 countries.

Two 18-hole strokeplay rounds today and tomorrow will see the field cut to 40 for the final round on Friday.

Meanwhile, the achievements of another local golfer are to be recognised by Clare County Council.

Ennisman Noel Pyne has nominated for the honour by Mayor of Clare Pat Daly, following his appearance in a 50th consecutive South of Ireland Championship at Lahinch last month.
