Davy Fitzgerald will be joined on the sideline by new coach and selector Donal Og Cusack for the first time as they take on Cork in the new Munster Hurling League.

There are two debutantes on the Clare team for today's game, with Newmarket's Eoin O'Brien and Inagh/Kilnamona's David Fitzgerald making their first appearances for the senior side.

The major change to both pre season competitions is that college teams are no longer included, with the competition confined to just intercounty sides.

Double All Ireland winning Clare Hurling captain Anthony Daly says the change was one that was on the cards.

That game is underway in Sixmilebridge at 2pm.

At the same time in Miltown, Colm Collins and his new backroom also get the year underway with a first appearance in the McGrath Cup since 2013.

Tipperary provide the opposition, as preperation for the 2016 League opener at the end of this month gets underway in earnest.

Former Munster championship winner with Clare Martin Daly, who led Coolmeen to the 2015 Junior A title, is hopeful of a postive year ahead

We will have live updates from both those games throughout the afternoon here on Clare FM
