Understanding Dementia: What’s life for a carer like?

Clare FM are working with the HSE on their Dementia: Understand Together Campaign. 64,000 people In Ireland are currently living with dementia and every day 30 people will develop dementia. By
2045, 150,000 people will be living with dementia. Every day 30 people develop dementia, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, friends. All living with a degenerative disease that affects their life. This campaign hopes to increase awareness and understanding of dementia amongst the wider population.

Clare woman Marian Costello is a carer to her parents. Her mother was diagnosed with dementia four years ago and her father was diagnosed with vascular dementia last year. On Friday’s Morning Focus, she spoke with Gavin Grace.
