On Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Edel Malone who is a Year Head and geography teacher in Coláiste Muire Ennis along with Aisling Hammon and Amy Gibbons who are TY students at the school. Edel previewed the upcoming initiative being ran by TY students in Coláiste Mhuire on Wednesday 8th of March called ‘Walk to School Wednesday’. She described the aim of the initiative which will see students walking to school instead of being dropped directly in transport. Amy and Aisling described the students vision to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions nearby the school and mentioned the ways in which this can be achieved. They also listed the various drop and go points students can be dropped at before school in a bid to make Ennis a 10 minute town. The air quality around the school will also be constantly monitored throughout the day.
