Should Social Distancing Measures Be Reduced To One Metre?

The UK has adopted a “1-metre-plus” approach to social distancing, meaning members of the public can be 1 metre away from each other as long as other measures are put in place to limit the transmission of the virus. These include wearing a face covering, installing screens, making sure people face away from each other and providing extra hand-washing facilities.

Here, there have been repeated calls for a similar measure, with those working in the hospitality sector among those with the strongest hope of a shift in policy.

On Wednesday, Gavin spoke with Eamonn Duggan of Malachy’s Bar in Quin, as well as Tony Cogan of Cogan’s Bar in Miltown Malbay.
