Shannon Archaeological & Historical Society Set To Host Talk On Irish Fairies

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Michael Houlihan who holds a Masters in Local History and is an OPW guide on Scattery Island and Ennis Friary. He also recently has published ‘Irish Fairies, a Short History of the Sídhe’. Michael previewed the upcoming talk that will be held by the Shannon Archaeological & Historical Society called ‘Irish Fairies – A Short History of the Irish Sídhe’. He described the history of fairies in Ireland and their origin. He also discussed the various sites in County Clare such as the remains of ringforts that are linked to fairies in the county. He highlighted the importance of not interfering with fairies and spoke about the danger of fairy folklore dying out in Ireland. Micheal looked ahead to the talk that will take place on Wednesday 15th of March called ‘Irish Fairies – A Short History of the Irish Sídhe’ which is set to take place at the Oakwood Hotel in Shannon at 8pm.
