The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications Networks this morning launched its report entitled, Issues affecting the Aviation Industry.

The finalised report makes 20 key recommendations in advance of the festive period including calls for travel rules to be relaxed for people arriving in Ireland from “red listed” countries.

The Joint Oireachtas committee is urging the coalition to agree a coronavirus testing system with the US and Canada, so that Irish citizens can travel to and from both countries without the need to restrict their movements.

The committee is also calling for PCR testing for air passengers to be capped at €50 to encourage take-up. At present, PCR testing is available at Irish airports at a cost of €129.

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to Fianna Fáil Senator Timmy Dooley about the report.
