PRO Of Aontú Discusses The Ladies Gaelic Football Association’s New Transgender Policy

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Eric Nelligan who is the PRO of Aontú to discuss the recent decision by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association to include transgender women in ladies Gaelic football. Eric described the difficulties and implications that may come into play with this decision and highlighted his concern with the matter. He mentioned the various advantages that a transgender women may have over a female and highlighted that confirmation from a qualified medical practitioner will be necessary to qualify to play the female sport. Eric also suggested ways in which transgender women can play the sport by participating in an open category competition.
