Pope Francis Confirms Visit To Ireland

Yesterday on Wednesday the 21st of March 2018, the much anticipated visit of Pope Francis to Ireland was confirmed.

The Pontiff will lead the World Meeting of Families in Croke Park in August, on a two-day visit – full details of which days have yet to be revealed.

Confirmation came as the Association of Catholic Priests called on the Archbishop of Dublin to clarify why references to non-traditional families had been removed from promotional material for the World Meeting.

Gavin Spoke to Fr Tony Flannery who is concerned at the removal of the references, citing concerns over funding of the event by conservative Catholic organisations in the US.

He says the message that everyone is welcome to the World Meeting is tainted by this ‘censorship’ and that this could mar the Pope’s participation in the event.
