In August 2021, Peter Lawless set off from Kilrush Co Clare on board his 41-foot yacht Waxwing to begin the adventure of a lifetime.
However, technical problems forced him to interrupt his journey to carry out urgent repairs to his vessel.
The delays associated with completing these works meant it was too late in the year to continue into the southern oceans without putting himself in danger.

Peter now plans to complete his solo circumnavigation and is counting down the days to when he’ll set off from Kilrush Marina again.
