Pat Breen speaks out about the concerns over the Mercosur Deal

On Wednesday’s show we spoke to Dep Pat Breen who is Minister of State for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection in relation to yesterday’s item when we spoke to ICSA General Secretary Eddie Punch over his organisation’s fury at the terms of the proposed Mercosur Deal between the EU and a trading block made up of four South American countries.

The government has been defending its role in the negotiations around Mercosur, saying they’ve secured important concessions.
Beef farmers fear the deal – which would see greater access to the European market for South America (and vice versa) – would flood the market with cheap beef making Irish produce noncompetitive.
