Past And Present Members Of Ennistymon CBS Recall Fond Memories Ahead Of Amalgamation

On Monday’s Morning Focus, Alan paid a visit to Ennistymon CBS and met up with Mary Lyons who is the principal of the school, John Galvin who is a history and English teacher along with past pupils Brendan Keane and PJ Murrihy. They discussed the upcoming amalgamation of the three secondary schools located in Ennistymon. The three schools are set to merge into a new state of the art community school that will open in September 2023. Mary highlighted the importance of the amalgamation which she believes is necessary progression for the future of education in Ennistymon. She stated how this will also help to eliminate past issues regarding space and costs among the three schools. John discussed the origins of Ennistymon CBS and his desire for the schools history to be carried on to the new community school opening in September. PJ recalled his fond memories of the school and his relationship with past teachers and students within the school. Brendan highlighted the role that he still has within the school and mentioned his desire for it’s legacy to live forever.
