Pandemic ‘Pushing Women To The Sidelines’ Of The Economy

On Monday’s Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was joined by Dr. Maeve O’Sullivan, Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Programme Director, MSc Human Resource Management at Cork University Business School and Senator Roisin Garvey, Green Party Senator, Inagh.

Concerns are being raised that more women are being pushed “to the sidelines” due to Covid, with a new study showing women are much more likely than men to be looking for work since the pandemic began.

Researchers from Cork University Business School and NUI Galway analysed survey data on men and women in 32,500 households from 2002 to the end of last year ad found, on average, women were more likely than men to be looking for work.
