New Research Highlights Barriers Faced By Clare Communities To Reach Net Zero Emissions

On Monday’s Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was joined by Sarah Clancy, Clare PPN Co-Ordinator, and Elaine D’Alton from Clare Women’s Network to talk about the Fair Clare Report being launched at a free event in the Templegate Hotel, Ennis this evening.

A first of its kind research project conducted in Clare which examined the effects on Clare communities of the transition to net zero carbon emissions has found that there is a risk of ‘an unfair transition in the county’ unless significant measures are taken to address this.

The report, entitled ‘Fair Clare: Securing Socio-Economic Rights and a Just Transition in Clare’, contains strategic recommendations for local and national policymakers aimed at reducing emissions and tackling poverty in the county.
