New Report On Ukrainian Integration Published Clare FM

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Jacqueline McEvoy who is the Centre Manager at Lisdoonvarna Failte along with Mariya Nikashanova who is an Ennis resident and Ukrainian native. The duo discussed the data contained in a recent study based on Ukrainian integration which revealed that 41% of Ukrainian refugees intend to stay in Ireland for the foreseeable future and 26% would need the war to stop before returning home. They also described the implications that will occur as a result of the Government losing 800 hotel rooms for refugee and asylum seekers. Jacqueline highlighted the role that Lisdoonvarna Failte have played in assisting Ukrainian refugees since their arrival to the town over a year ago. She also complimented the spirit of the community in their ability to welcome over 1,000 Ukrainian’s with open arms. Mariya mentioned her disappointment with the Government set to lose 800 hotel beds for refugees and is alarmed at the fact that many more refugees may become homeless. She also highlighted some of the various difficulties that Ukrainian refugees face in Ireland on a daily basis.
