Mural Artist Discusses Recent Work On Brady’s Lane

On Monday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Maria Duarte Santos who has completed murals around Ennis and lives in Portugal along side Rosemarie Noone of Experience Ennis. Maria described her interest in the project being carried out by Experience Ennis which encourages artists to propose site-specific murals that engage with County Clare. She discussed the process of being chosen to complete various mural paintings on the laneways of Ennis after applying online. Maria mentioned the theme of the murals and highlighted the research she carried out before deciding what to paint on the walls of Abbey Street Lane and Brady’s Lane. Rosemarie mentioned the key role of Experience Ennis which was set up with the vision of inspiring local people and visitors to adore Ennis and it’s culture. She spoke about the ongoing project called ‘Artways of Ennis’ which aims to promote Ennis in a cultural way through art. Rosemarie encouraged any artists who may be interested in creating their own murals in Ennis to do so.
