On Friday’s Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey visited the Auction Room Sixmilebridge as the three decade run business is coming to a close very soon.
It’s the end of an era in Sixmilebridge, with the Auction Room set to close its doors for the final time next month. Auctioneer Aidan Foley will be holding his last ever in-person auction in his saleroom in November, following the sale of the unit to a supermarket chain.
The Auction Room is located at the former Barron’s Hall, which some in Sixmilebridge will have fond memories of from the showband era. This week saw Aidan holding a three-day online sale from Monday to Wednesday, with close to 2,000 lots of items such as furniture, Persian carpets, Irish art, Waterford glass, silver and jewelry up for grabs.
