A new study has recommended the construction of a new 352-bed Model Four Hospital with an Emergency Department on a green field site in Ennis.
The study is entitled ‘Preliminary Quantitative Analysis and Strategic Approach to Emergency Department Overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick, Ireland’s Health Service Executive, MidWest Region’.
It has been completed by Ennis and University of Limerick PHD student, Sinéad Madden.
According to the study, the building of such a Model Four Hospital in Ennis is necessary to deal with the county’s long-term growing healthcare needs.
To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey spoke with Sinéad Madden.
