Big change is ahead for education in Ennistymon, with the imminent amalgamation of three secondary schools in the town.
Ennistymon Secondary School, Scoil Mhuire and Ennistymon Vocational School are set to merge into the new state of the art Ennistymon Community School that is due to open in September of this year.
Morning Focus has already heard from those associated with the first two schools, as to their memories of their respective schools and feelings about the amalgamation. Now it is the turn of Ennistymon Vocational School.
Alan Morrissey paid a visit to the school to have a chat with four people: Karen O’Neill, current Principal and newly appointed Deputy Principal of Ennistymon Community School; Orla Conway, the school Principal before Karen and new Principal of Ennistymon Community School; Elizabeth Flanagan, who was Principal of the Vocational School before Orla; and Enda Byrt, who was school Principal before Elizabeth about the changes ahead.
