Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh Reflects On Strangest GAA Season in Memory

The sporting highlight of the weekend is tomorrow’s All Ireland Football Final, in which Mayo take on Dublin.

There’s a lot of people who are digging up omens as to why there might be an upset, and the dream of Mayo For Sam could come true.

70 years ago, Mayo took on Leinster opposition at Croke Park, beating Louth, in what was the last All Ireland Final missed by the great Micheál O’Muircheartaigh…the last final until last weekend’s Hurling decider that is.

Then, he missed out having just qualified as a teacher.  This time around, it’s for very different reasons of course.

Gavin Grace spoke with Micheál this week and we began by reflecting on the year that has been 2020.
