Meet The Killaloe Students Behind The Farm Finder App

Bright minds from right across the country packed into Dublin’s RDS last week for the BT Young Scientist and Technology exhibition.

As ever, the Banner County was well represented with some very interesting projects on offer from all corners of Clare.

Among them was ‘Farm Finder’ – an app created by three students from St Anne’s College in Killaloe which will no doubt interest anyone who works alone on the farm.

The app works by sending a message to a nominated phone number when a farmer stops moving, to alert them if they have had an accident or need help.

Also on this week’s programme, Tom Gleeson from Teagasc spoke about calf care (0:48) and Quilty man Joseph Woulfe, who is the Clare representative for the new Beef Plan farming group shared his insights from the organisation’s first meeting in Clare (9:48).
