Dogs Trust has expressed it’s disbelief upon learning how a man has avoided a ban on keeping animals after violently killing his pet dog in a public park. As Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity, Dogs Trust said that they are truly shocked and dismayed that no custodial sentence was imposed. They believe this sends out the wrong message regarding animal cruelty and undermines the recent Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 which allows for much greater punishments to be handed down for such a vile crime.
