Kit Smalley, who has previously been featured on Morning Focus, is a pensioner, aged in his early ‘70s, who had been living in a small room under the bridge in Doonbeg village, with only his faithful dog, Yeoh for company.
Kit was living with no proper lighting, cooking facilities, or sanitation, with friends helping him out where possible.
Alan visited Kit last October, when he had been dealing with his temporary dwelling being flooded due to a full moon and the river running very high downstream. The 71-year-old had to wait out in the open until the river subsided.
A Morning Focus listener called in to offer Kit temporary accommodation when we last featured his story in October. Now, however, Kit has received long-term accommodation.
To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey spoke with Kit to discuss the good news on Thursday’s Morning Focus.
