On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Simon White who is the Chairman of the Limerick and Tipperary Woodland Owners Ltd along with Councillor Pat Burke who is a farmer with ash plantation. They reacted to the recent decision by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, which has ruled out compensation for farmers affected by ash die back. They discussed the significant financial impact this will have on farmers and expressed their concerns over the amount of trees dying prematurely in Ireland which will have a knock on effect in years to come.
