Joe Biden’s Inauguration And Its Clare Link

Today at 5pm Irish time, Joe Biden will be inaugurated as the 46th President of America.

It marks the end of the most tumultuous four years in American politics.

Donald Trump will not attend the inauguration and faces impeachment proceedings for a second time – this time he is charged with “willful incitement of insurrection”, following the storming of the Capitol by supporters of the 45th president.

Ahead of his inauguration, Joe Biden has unveiled a trillion dollar rescue package to combat the economic downturn and the Covid-19 crisis.

He’s also pledged to vaccinate one-hundred-million Americans during his first one-hundred days in Office.

The inauguration ceremony isn’t without it’s Irish links, and even goes as far as having links to Clare!

Louth violinist Patricia Treacy will play The Proclamation, which was composed by Patrick Cassidy – who grew up in Shannon and went to school in Ennis as well as his hometown.
