President Michael D Higgins has been accused of misinformed comments, after he accused Israel of breaking international law.
The accusation is coming from the Israeli Ambassador to Ireland, with Dana Erlich, who only presented her credentials to President Higgins last month, saying he was misinformed in his remarks.
Now Simon Coveney has weighed into the controversy. The former Minister for Foreign Affairs said “President Michael D Higgins is somebody who for many years has taken an interest in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“I don’t think it’s helpful when an ambassador starts to make pointed comments in relation to our president.
“I think Michael D Higgins has reflected the view of many in Ireland.
