Up to a quarter of close contacts are not showing up for their Covid-19 test.
The HSE offers close contacts two tests, the first is done as soon as possible after they’re identified, and the second is done 7 days later.
Half of people fail to show up for their second test.
The HSE says close contacts are telling contact tracing staff they don’t need a test because they’ve no symptoms.
Gavin discussed this with Kilmihil GP and former TD Dr. Michael Harty on Thursday’s Morning Focus.
