Could The HSE Face Legal Action Over Cyber-Attack?

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has said he hopes people won’t take legal action over the HSE cyber-attack.

Yesterday was the date by which personal data would begin to be posted online unless a €20m ransom was paid by the government.

The Government however has refused to pay.

While there’s been no evidence of data being published yet, if data were to be leaked online from the cyber-attack, could the HSE be faced with legal challenges for a breach in GDPR law?
