On Monday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Gerry Murphy from Bushypark Treatment Centre. Gerry discussed the recent invite issued by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to members of 20,000 households across Ireland to join the Citizens’ Assembly On Drug Use. He commented on the idea of decriminalizing the usage and possession of drugs in Ireland along with highlighting the potential positives and dangers of doing so. He also described the importance of harm reduction related to drugs and suggested ways in which the country can curb the issue of drug addiction. The Citizen Assembly’s first meeting will take place on the 14th of April.
