Opening today’s show we heard from Fianna Fáil TD, Timmy Dooley as he urged Health Minister Simon Harris to fund surgeries for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome sufferers.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a rare disease affecting connective tissue which can be crippling and life-limiting. Proposed surgeries to help treat the disease could cost upwards of €100,000.
One patient in need of such an operation is 10-year-old Zara Cronin. Her mother, Anne O’Gorman spoke to the show about her struggle to raise the €100,000. Despite intensive fundraising and even offering her house up as collateral Anne has been unable to raise the money. Anne is organising a fundraising walk with the Clare hurling team for July 21st so please keep an eye out for that and donate what you can.
