Donna McGettigan Opens Up About Pain Of Funeral Restrictions On Grieving Families

We’ve all heard the calls for Mass to resume or for funeral attendance to be increased – but until you’re faced with the situation yourself, the reality of saying goodbye to a loved one without the traditional rites and rituals is unimaginable.

Sinn Fein Cllr Donna McGettigan has recently experienced this pain.

Donna’s partner Noel was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was given three to six months to live.

They decided to get married – the first loss Donna suffered at the hand of restrictions.

On March 5th of this year, Noel passed away and Donna’s grief was further compounded due to the restrictions on funerals.
