On Thursday’s Morning Focus, Alan presented a piece by Clare FM’s Therese McInerney. Therese took a trip to Miltown Malbay to witness day four of the Willie Clancy Summer School. The Willie Clancy Summer School is a week-long summer school in traditional music and set dance held annually at Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare.
Therese was joined by a talented group of young musicians that opened up the segment with a few jigs. The group was none other than this years Siansa Gael Linn winners, ‘Binneas’.
Therese also met banjo tutor, Keith O’Loughlin. Keith discussed his time at Willie Clancy and the huge number of banjo players and students attending the school this year.
Therese then made her way down to Cleary’s Bar and was introduced to a group of musicians and they performed a song for her and all of the Morning Focus listeners tuned in.
