Coveney Apologises For Handling Of Zappone Controversy

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey spoke to Daniel McConnell, Political Editor with the Irish Examiner, Michael McNamara, Independent TD from Scariff and Joe Carey, Fine Gael TD from Clarecastle.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney yesterday appeared before the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee for a second time to answer questions in relation to the proposed appointment of former Minister Catherine Zappone as a special envoy to the UN.

Whilst initially denying Zappone lobbied for the role, he later conceded that Katherine Zappone’s actions could be seen as such.
