A new scheme to improve access to the State Contributory Pension for long-term carers has been announced.
Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, has also announced the details of the three lump sum cost-of-living payments being paid this week.

Alan was joined by Marian Costello, a Shannon resident and full-time caregiver, and Sinead O’Brien, based in Bunratty and Clare, carer of the year, on Tuesday’s Morning Focus to discuss whether the new scheme and lump sum payments, aimed at alleviating the effects of the cost-of-living crisis, will make a significant difference to the lives of carers.
