There is continued outrage amongst the public over lack of pay for student nurses and midwives.
The government continues to examine the issue, having voted down a motion on restoring pay for students on placement during the pandemic last week.
A review on allowances being paid to students will be completed shortly, with any changes not being implemented until September 2021.

Almost 50 thousand people have signed an INMO petition which calls on the Health Minister to end what it describes as the exploitation of student nurses and midwives.
