Community Commemoration For Pádraig Ó Cadhla To Take Place In Tuamgraney

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined live in studio by Dr Tomás Mac Conmara who is an award-winning oral historian, author and lecturer along with Carol McNamara who is the granddaughter of Pádraig Ó Cadhla. Carol discussed the upcoming community commemoration which will be held in honour of her late grandfather Pádraig Ó Cadhla this Friday in Tuamgraney. She highlighted her family’s urge to honour Pádraig due to his major contribution to the Irish language and culture. She also spoke about the various accomplishments that Pádraig achieved throughout his life and the role that he played within the local community, serving as a school principle for over 20 years. Carol made reference to the plaque unveiling of Pádraig that will take place outside Tuamgraney National School and mentioned who will be present. Dr Tomás previewed the commemoration event and placed emphasis on the importance of remembering Pádraig’s legacy. Tomás who attended Tuamgraney National School looked ahead to giving a key address at the ceremony.
The community commemoration will begin on Friday 31st March at 10:30pm.
