Clare’s newest national champion says it’s extra sweet to secure victory given the strength of the competition she faced.
Quin native Alex O’Neill claimed gold in a thrilling 800m final at the National Track and Field Championships in Santry at the weekend.

O’Neill fended off the challenge of Irish Olympian Sarah Healy securing the National Title in a time of 2 minutes 4.53 seconds.
She says it was one of the deepest finals ever contested in Ireland.
