On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Niall Naughton who is from Tubber and is the President of the TUS Students Union. Niall discussed the Governments decision to end the eviction ban and looked ahead to tonight’s Dáil vote calling for a reintroduction of the ban. He also highlighted the ongoing student accommodation crisis and mentioned some of the bizarre situations he has been informed of such as students sleeping in their cars and in tents as a result of the shortage of accommodation. He stated some of the knock on effects of the accommodation crisis which has led to an increase in the usage of the on campus counselling service provided in TUS. Niall described the ongoing efforts of the college to comfort and assist students in difficult situations but encouraged the Government to provide solutions to the current issues.
