Clare Historian Discusses Latest CSO Figures On Poverty And Wealth From 1911

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Colm Liddy who is a local historian and author. Colm discussed the latest CSO figures on poverty and wealth for County Clare from the year 1911. He mentioned the results of the CSO figures which stated that the banner county was the 19th poorest in the country. He explained the effects of the famine on the county which led to a rapid decline in the population in the county. Colm also described the sudden collpase in agriculture at the time and made reference to the number of people who could read or write in 1911.
