On Friday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Ian Bolger and Darren Byrnes from Shannon who are the recipients of Clare FM’s Local Hero Award for 2023. Ian and Darren received the award for the heroism and selflessness they displayed when they rescued two young boys from the water at Doughmore Bay, close to Trump International Hotel and Golf Resort on August 13th last year. They described events that occurred on the day and highlighted the work of themselves and the emergency services that helped to save the lives of two young children. They wished to inform listeners of this story in order to raise awareness around water safety during water safety awareness month 2023.
