Clare Council Motion Calls For RTE to re-instate Brolly

Today on Morning Focus, Cllr Gerry Flynn joined us on the line as he is to put forward a motion which will call for RTE to re-instate Joe Brolly to its coverage of Gaelic Football.

Independent Councillors Gerry Flynn, Ann Norton and PJ Ryan have submitted the motion for next week’s meeting of the local authority which will debate the matter. The motion calls on the Minister for Communications of Finance to request that the State broadcaster reinstates the controversial pundit ‘A.S.A.P’ as his removal from the panel has ‘taken away from the enjoyment of the game for many people.’ Brolly’s last game with RTE was last year’s drawn All-Ireland Final between Dublin and Kerry, during which Brolly claimed that the match official David Gough had been “clearly influenced by propaganda coming from Kerry.”
