Chernobyl Children Touch Down at Shannon Airport

For the next four weeks, 145 disabled children and young people from homes in areas in Belarus affected by the Chernobyl disaster will enjoy a much-needed respite from their living conditions here in Ireland.

They landed in with pioneering philanthropist Adi Roche at Shannon Airport on Wednesday, some for the first time but for others they’ve been coming for years.
There were tears of joy and excitement as the host families from all around Ireland welcomed their new family member for the next month.
