Could Broadford Lose Their Post Office Permanently?

There are fears that an East Clare village will be permanently left without a Post Office.

Broadford’s Post Office had been closed when those over it needed to step away for personal reasons.

However, it now looks likely that An Post are not planning to advertise the contract for another postmaster or postmistress to take over.

Locals are planning to fight for the service to reopen.

On Thursday’s Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to local PJ Mason, Bodyke Fine Gael Cllr Joe Cooney and Clare’s Fianna Fáil Senator Timmy Dooley.

When contacted by Clare FM, a spokesperson for An Post declined to comment on the future of Broadford Post Office prior to their meeting with locals.
