Blue Plaque Set To Be Unveiled In Honour Of Dr Michael Hillery In Miltown Malbay

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined live in studio by Michael Hillary who is the grandson of Dr Michael Hillary and former Fianna Fail Clare County Councillor along with David Hillary who is the great grand-nephew of Dr Michael Hillary. Mary Crawford who is the Cathaoirleach of the Mid Clare Commemoration Committee also joined the conversation. Dr . Michael Hillery who is a Miltown Malbay native is set to be recognised for his many year’s as a medical doctor and his qualities as a brilliant academic and risk taker. The group referred to the Blue Plaque which will be unveiled in honour of Dr Michael Hillery in Miltown Malbay this weekend. They spoke about the role he served as IRA Brigade Medical Officer during the War of Independence. Michael and David both described the type of person that Micheal was in his brave efforts to assist the wounded while risking his own life. Mary announced the details of the commemoration and who will feature on the day.
The event is set to begin at 1:15 pm on Sunday 30th of April at Hillery’s bar Miltown Malbay.
