Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind are currently looking for volunteers to support our Puppy Raising programme in Clare, particularly in the Ennis and Shannon areas.
Puppy Raisers foster a guide dog puppy from age 7-8 weeks until approximately 12-15 months. The puppy will live with their family in their home and receive direction from our Early Training Team learning basic rules and obedience.
From 12-15 months they enter training at the headquarters in Cork and they begin their journey to becoming a Guide Dog for a person who is vision impaired, or an Assistance Dog for a family of a child with autism.
Deirdre Fahy, a local puppy raiser, and Theo, a puppy and trainee guide dog, joined Pat in studio to chat about their appeal.
